The Monsoon Session of Parliament, kicking off Monday, is going to be a wild ride with the BJP-led government facing off against opposition parties; expect tempestuous confrontations in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. These fiery debates are expected to lead to several mid-proceeding adjournments.
The Session, by all expectations, would be a turbulent affair with stormy confrontations between the BJP-led government and the opposition parties expected to dominate the initial stages of the proceedings.

However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has, meanwhile, emphasized constructive discussions, but with opposition demands for debate on sensitive topics — like Operation Sindoor, US President Donald Trump’s claim of mediating an India-Pakistan ceasefire, and the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision in Bihar — the atmosphere might get surcharged.

On the other side, the opposition parties are geared up to put the government on the spot on several critical issues and are prepared to corner the government on a range of key matters, pushing for answers and accountability.
A rundown of the key issues the Opposition plans to raise includes:
Pahalgam Attack and Operation Sindoor: Opposition parties want answers on the government’s handling of the Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor. The opposition would press the government for an answer to why the terrorists have not been caught yet, and who is responsible for the attack?
Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision in Bihar: Concerns about the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, with allegations of “vote ban” being brought in post-demonetization.
US President Donald Trump’s Claims: Opposition will question Trump’s repeated claims of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The opposition parties are all geared up to press Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come clean on the issue.
India’s Foreign Policy: To seek a review and course correction of India’s foreign policy, including relations with China, Pakistan, and volatility in West Asia.
Jammu and Kashmir Statehood: Demand for restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Atrocities Against Women: To highlight the concerns about the rising cases of atrocities against women in the country.
Air India Plane Crash in Ahmedabad: Opposition to question the government on the crash that killed 260 people.
Push to impeach Justice Yashwant Varma: Justice Varma is embroiled in a controversy involving charred currency notes found at his official residence in Delhi after a fire broke out.

Despite some internal differences, the Opposition parties are strategizing to corner the government on these issues with the sole aim of putting up a united face in their opposition to the BJP-led government.
