Workers of the Madhya Pradesh Kisan Congress, along with farmers, staged protests at various places across Madhya Pradesh on Saturday over the alleged irregularities and problems faced by farmers in procuring seeds and fertilisers, as well as in selling their produce at mandis.
The protests were held in Sehore, Morena, Burhanpur, Shajapur and several other cities and towns across the state.

At Sehore, the protesters burnt effigies of Union Agriculture Minister and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav. The protest was held at Baktara, where Kisan Congress leaders alleged that farmers in the state were facing several hardships.

During a similar protest in Burhanpur, the farmers demanded the abolition of the e-token system for the purchase of fertilisers. They alleged that the system was not functioning properly, resulting in numerous difficulties for farmers.
At Morena, the protesters demanded that the government procure 100 per cent of the farmers’ moong produce. They also alleged that they were not receiving adequate water for irrigation and urged the government to ensure the timely release of water through canals for agricultural fields.
