Former NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede on Saturday said his family has been receiving hate messages from Pakistan, the UAE, and Bangladesh in connection with the defamation case he filed against Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix over the Aryan Khan-directed web series The Ba***ds of Bollywood.

“My personal belief is that this has nothing to do with my job or my profession. In my personal capacity, I have approached the Delhi High Court. I would not like to comment on the court proceedings or the issues involved, as the matter is sub judice,” Wankhede told ANI.

He added that the case is about self-respect, personal dignity, and honour, emphasizing that any satire or parody targeting him not only insults him but also undermines the work of those fighting against drug abuse.

Wankhede noted that his family, who are not connected to his professional work, have been unfairly affected. “We have regularly informed the police about the threats my sister and my wife continue to receive. I will not accept that they suffer because of me,” he said.

On Friday, the Delhi High Court issued summons to Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited and others in a civil defamation case filed by Sameer Wankhede.

Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav directed the summons on Wankhede’s plea against Red Chillies Entertainment, owned by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, along with other respondents.

The court has asked Red Chillies and the other defendants to file their reply within seven days, with the petitioner required to submit a rejoinder within three days thereafter.

Wankhede has also been asked to provide copies of the petition to all defendants. The matter is scheduled for hearing on October 30.

The court declined to grant any immediate relief and instructed the petitioner to return after 10 days.
