Two Indian Army Agniveers lost their lives after an artillery shell burst during a firing exercise in Nashik district.
“We have to fight for caste census. Until the caste census is conducted, 73 per cent of the population will have to face struggle and bear the burden of injustice,” he said.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, called upon the people of his mother Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency, Rae Bareli, not to fear the current government and stand up for their rights.
“We have to fight for caste census. Until the caste census is conducted, 73 per cent of the population will have to face struggle and bear the burden of injustice,” he said.
Gandhi said that the rights of OBCs and Dalits are being robbed, resulting in their exclusion from various spheres. He invited teacher aspirants on the stage and asked about their problems. He, however, centered his discussion on the challenges faced by Dalits and backward classes.

The enthusiastic crowd was eager to catch a glimpse of the Congress leader and wanted to join the entourage. Earlier in the day, Gandhi appeared in a court in Sultanpur where he secured bail in a defamation case.
Later, the Yatra commenced from Rae Bareli at 2pm and was set to conclude at Lucknow. Speculation is rife ever since Sonia Gandhi filed her nomination for the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan that a member of the Gandhi family might contest the Lok Sabha elections from Rae Bareli.
Meanwhile, Sonia penned an emotional letter to the people of her parliamentary constituency. The letter has deeply moved the local people who now harbour hopes of a Gandhi family member contesting elections from the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat.
