Some Hindu organisations had been alleging for a long time that the ‘Imambara’ is actually a cultural stage for society, located in one part of the PWD building in Dhar. The protesters had been alleging that the said part had been illegally occupied by the Tazia committee for several years.

They demanded that the portion of the building be freed from the Tazia Committee’s occupation and that it should be opened for people of all religions to hold cultural and religious events there.
Following the continued protests, the authorities sealed the Imambara. A notice has been placed on the sealed part, which says that it belongs to the PWD.
