Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday presented the Delhi Budget 2026, branding it as a “Green Budget” to promote sustainable development.

The government has earmarked 21.44 per cent or Rs 22,236 crore of the Rs 1.03 lakh crore budget for green intiatives.

CM Gupta said that environment is embedded in every policy, nature innevery scheme and concern for future generations in every decision.

“This time, we have presented Delhi’s budget as a Green Budget. Environment is embedded in every policy, nature in every scheme, and concern for future generations in every decision. Therefore, we have allocated 21% of the entire budget for the Green Budget,” CM Gupta said in her budget speech.

Rs 822 crore have been allocated for the environment sector. The fund will be spend on pollution control measures such anti-smoke guns and sprinklers.

Several other measures include waste-to-energy products, development of urban forests and green spaces and Carbon Credit Monetisation Scheme.
