Deepak Kumar is new Home Secretary of UP
Senior IAS officer Deepak Kumar was made the new Additional Chief Secretary (Home) of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
The Election Commission has approved his name.
According to sources, the names of Finance Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, Sports Principal Secretary Alok Kumar and PWD Principal Secretary Ajay Chauhan were sent to the Election Commission. The Commission approved the name of the most senior officer, Deepak Kumar.

The Election Commission had removed the Home Secretaries in all those states who were holding charge in respective CM’s Office. Along with this, in UP too, the charge of Principal Secretary Home was taken away from Sanjay Prasad and the responsibility automatically shifted to Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra.
Deepak Kumar is of 1990 batch IAS officer and currently heads the Finance Department.
Meanwhile, the effect of the Model Code of Conduct with the announcement of Lok Sabha elections is visible.The Election Commission has ordered removal of photographs of all politicians from walls in government offices with immediate effect.
Additional Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar of General Administration gave instructions to this effect on Tuesday.
Except for the pictures of the President and the Governor, photos of all the politicians will be removed from government offices.
