A tense situation unfolded in Ludhiana’s Khanna area after a youth climbed onto the roof of a rented house in Bullepur village following the arrival of a Counter Intelligence team, triggering a two-hour-long standoff before he was brought down safely, police said.
The incident took place when the Counter Intelligence team reached the location for a verification exercise based on certain inputs. As soon as the officials arrived, the youth allegedly went to the rooftop and refused to come down, following which a crowd gathered near the house.

During the standoff, the youth recorded a video and shared it on social media, claiming that he feared for his life. In the video, he alleged that armed persons had come to take action against him and expressed apprehension that he could be killed in an encounter.
Following the circulation of the video, Khanna Police were immediately informed, and teams reached the spot to assist in handling the situation. The area was secured while police officials began negotiations with the youth to convince him to come down peacefully.
After continuous efforts and counselling for nearly two hours, the youth finally agreed to leave the rooftop. He was taken into safe custody by the police, and questioning was initiated to ascertain the circumstances behind the incident.
Khanna Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohit Singla said the police responded promptly after receiving information about the matter and ensured that the situation was handled without any untoward incident.
“The safety of the individual was our top priority. The youth was brought down peacefully after talks and has been taken into custody. Further action will be taken after completing the investigation,” DSP Singla said.
Police officials have not yet revealed the exact details of the input based on which the Counter Intelligence team had reached the location. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
