The Congress party, stating that the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft issue will reverberate in the Parliament’s monsoon session, demanded a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the case while questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the matter.

On Friday, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal questioned Prime Minister Narendra’s silence on the issue, stating that the Prime Minister must make a statement since he formed the trust responsible for the donation’s safety and security. The Trust head was also appointed by the Prime Minister, but he has remained silent on the matter.

Venugopal questioned the Uttarakhand government for not arresting the Badrinath temple donation theft accused. Taking a dig at the BJP, he added that the double-engine government is engaging in temple donation theft.

The Congress leader said, “Those who do politics in the name of Lord Ram are now resorting to stealing donations.

Venugopal was on a two-day visit to Dehradun to meet party workers and office bearers to assess ground realities and the party’s prospects for the 2027 assembly polls. Denying factionalism in the Uttarakhand Congress unit, he emphasised that all party leaders are together and will fight assembly elections unitedly.
He added that there is immense public anger against the ruling party on the ground and people are ready for a change in the state in 2027.
