The Congress on Thursday criticised the BJP for its “attempts to twist the facts to communalise the situation” in a bid to hide the failure of the BJP government at the centre, especially the Ministry of Health and the management of the Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) headed by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in the matter of MBBS admissions in the Mata Vaishnodevi-run medical college.

Reacting strongly to the controversy over the issue of admissions to the newly established Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), chief spokesman of the Congress, Ravinder Sharma, alleged that the LG-led shrine board and the centre should own the responsibility for failure to protect the religious sentiments and rights of Hindus in the SMVDIME.

He questioned the BJP leadership for “communalising” the sensitive issue while the entire admission process was conducted by the institutions under the control of their own government.

When safeguards were available to protect the interests of the Hindus in admission to the medical college, the BJP and its government are to be blamed for the admission controversy.

The BJP stands exposed for its failure on the issue and is now targeting other political parties on the issue.
