Senior Congress leader V M Sudheeran said Tuesday that the demand for a re-investigation into the death of K K Mahesan, former microfinance coordinator of the SNDP Yogam, has completely panicked SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan.
Speaking to the media here, Sudheeran said that Vellappally’s expressions are similar to those of street rowdies and are not at all suitable for the position of SNDP Yogam general secretary. Vellappally is now acting contrary to the noble ideals upheld by Sree Narayana Guru and the SNDP Yogam leadership.

He urged the government to form a new investigation team comprising capable officers who can bring out the truth about the death of former SNDP microfinance coordinator K. K. Mahesan in 2020.

Despite earlier letters to then Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan from myself and Mahesh’s wife demanding a proper investigation into Mahesh’s death, no action was taken, Sudheeran said.
He clarified that he has resubmitted a complaint from Mahesh’s wife to the government, demanding that justice be ensured in the case. Sudheeran stated that Pinarayi Vijayan’s alliance with Vellappally is his biggest tragedy.
Sudheeran strongly criticised the liquor policy and black sand mining in the state budget, stating that he did not know how the tax exemption for low-strength liquor was included in the budget and that no such provision existed in the Congress manifesto. He demanded the complete cancellation of black sand mining orders brought by the previous Left government, which deceived the people of Alappuzha and coastal areas.
Sudheeran on Monday wrote to Chief Minister V D Satheesan seeking a fresh probe into the suicide death of former SNDP Yogam Kanichukulangara Union secretary K K Maheshan. In a letter to the Chief Minister, Sudheeran forwarded a petition submitted by Maheshan’s wife, Ushadevi, and sought urgent intervention in the matter.
Maheshan was found hanging at the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam Union office in Kanichukulangara, Alappuzha in June 2020.
Police had registered a case naming SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan, his manager K L Asokan and son Thushar Vellappally as accused.
