Southwest Monsoon likely to arrive in Kerala on June 4; IMD warns of week-long heavy rainfall
Several Kerala districts are already under weather alerts as the IMD forecasts thunderstorms, gusty winds and widespread rainfall during the coming week.

Several parts of India woke up to cold weather on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The temperatures have plunged 2–6°C below normal across several regions. According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) and All-India Temperature Anomaly Maps (November 1–18), large swathes of the country have remained consistently colder than average this month.
Mumbai woke up to cold weather as temperatures dipped to 16.2°C, the city’s coldest November morning in years, and 5°C below normal, as per the weather department.

Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh, as per the IMD’s bulletin issued at 8.05 am on Nov 17, Madhya Pradesh is likely to experience the most intense cold wave conditions. The state may see cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in some areas on Monday, followed by cold wave conditions in isolated pockets on November 18 and 19. Dense fog has already enveloped parts of the state, including Jabalpur.

Indore has logged a new November record with 11 consecutive days of severe coldwave conditions, an unprecedented period for the month. The city logged a minimum of 7.7°C on Monday, up from 7.2°C the previous day, but still 7°C below normal. Daytime temperatures remained depressed at 26.4°C due to strong northeasterly winds.
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, pollution continues to choke the national capital. Delhi recorded an AQI of 391, remaining in the very poor category for the sixth straight day. Eighteen of 38 CPCB stations reported AQI levels in the severe range.
Delhi logged its earliest single-digit minimum in 11 years, with temperatures staying below 10°C since November 15, as per IMD. On Monday, the city hit a low of 8.7°C, 3.6°C below normal and the coldest November reading in three years. Most areas recorded night temperatures between 9°C and 11°C, while daytime maximums stayed between 24°C and 26°C.
A slight 1°C rise in minimum temperature was observed over the last 24 hours, but meteorologists say conditions remain “appreciably below normal.” The IMD has forecast shallow to moderate fog on Wednesday and morning fog with clear skies from November 20–24.
In Telangana, a persistent coldwave continues, with Kumaram Bheem Asifabad recording a biting 7.9°C, followed by Adilabad (8.8°C) and Sircilla (9.0°C).
Across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, temperatures have already dipped below 10°C. “A cold wave is expected next week,” said Surinder Paul, Director, IMD Chandigarh, adding that western districts such as Hisar (Haryana) and Faridkot (Punjab) have seen temperatures plunge to around 5°C.
The cold has gripped Karnataka as people shiver at night due to low temperatures. Bidar recorded the state’s lowest minimum at 9.5°C, with several northern districts experiencing cold wave-like conditions. Even Bengaluru reported a sharper-than-usual drop in night temperatures.
In the east, shallow to moderate fog will cover all districts of West Bengal from November 19–21, though nights are likely to turn slightly warmer. The state will witness dry weather over the next week.
The south, meanwhile, is preparing for more rainfall. Heavy showers are expected over Tamil Nadu till November 24 and over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands till Saturday. Thunderstorms with lightning are expected across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema through the week.
Meanwhile, as Pune continues to reel under a persistent coldwave, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 10°C and a maximum of 28°C on Wednesday (November 19). This comes just two days after Pune logged its first single-digit minimum of the season on Monday — the sharpest temperature drop so far.
Although conditions remained chilly today, the minimum temperature stayed above single digits, settling at 10°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
