Samajwadi Party’s National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the BJP is using the SIR exercise to deprive eligible voters, especially SP supporters, of enrolling themselves in the 2027 assembly polls.
“Therefore, I appeal to everyone to take the task of enrolling new voters seriously and to fully engage in it,” he told SP legislators here on Tuesday.

Addressing party MLAs and MLCs at a specially convened meeting, Akhilesh Yadav stated that the Samajwadi Party has the responsibility to protect democracy with utmost care.
“Along with disseminating the achievements of the Samajwadi government to the public, its language and behaviour must also create an atmosphere of victory among the people,’ he cautioned the legislators.
He further said, “The Constitution, along with democracy, must also be protected during the 2027 Assembly elections, because only then will reservations be preserved and the backward classes, Dalits, and minorities receive their rights and respect.”
Akhilesh Yadav stated that the BJP has turned UP into a jungle raj. “The rule of law has disappeared, and everyone is suffering from the impact of inflation. GST has ruined businesses. Women and girls are being humiliated daily. Education and health are in a shambles. Development is at a standstill. The government has failed on every front. Only when the BJP government leaves Uttar Pradesh will prosperity return, and then the lives of farmers and youth will change,” he told the legislators.
