On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Modi government’s coming to power in the country, BJP president Amit Shah praised the governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed confidence that the people will bring him back to power in 2019 with a full majority.

Highlighting the achievements of the Modi government, Shah said that the PM is the most hardworking head of the government that India has had.

“BJP has given the most hardworking prime minister to the country. It is a matter of pride for us,” he said at a press conference held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday.

When asked to comment on the rising petrol prices in the country, Shah skirted it by countering it by pointing finger at the Congress.

“The current prices of petrol and diesel were the same during three years of Congress government. But they are fed up of these raised prices in only three days in our government?” he said, while stating that the BJP government is mulling a long-term solution to tackle it.

Taking a snipe at the Opposition parties, who have united in an alliance to take on the NDA government in 2019, Shah said that the Modi government has “replaced dynasty, appeasement and caste politics with performance-based politics”.

“The Opposition wants Modi and BJP out, but BJP wants the departure of corruption, disorder, and poverty out of the country,” asserted Shah.

He also took a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s “report card” on the Modi government’s last four years.

“What else do you expect from Rahul Gandhi? He is in the opposition, he has to do this,” he said.

“BJP is proud that it has, under Narendra Modi, presented a government that is corruption free, pro-poor, pro-farmer, pro-village and capable of taking strong decisions,” added Shah.

Countering the charge that they have failed in ensuring jobs for the people, Shah said that the government has encouraged self-employment among youth to “ensure jobs for crores”.

The BJP supremo did not fail to point out that the NDA government has remained free from the blemish of corruption for the last four years.

“We have completed infrastructure projects worth lakhs of crores without a single case of corruption,” the 53-year-old Shah said stating that the BJP government has transformed India into the fifth-largest economy in the world.

Shah also claimed that the size of the NDA has increased in the last four years with the arrival of leaders such as Bihar Chief Minister and leader of Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar.

“Besides Nitish ji (Bihar CM), 11 parties became part of NDA after 2014. Only Chandrababu Ji (Andhra Pradesh CM) left,” he said.

Commenting on the recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan, Shah said that the Centre has a “zero-tolerance policy” when it comes to securing the country’s borders.

“The maximum number of terrorists have been killed during our rule,” claimed Shah.
