Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the BJP government is harassing the poor and the needy in the name of tackling infiltration in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.
“There is no justification for investigating infiltrators in Lucknow; there are no infiltrators here. Besides, by what authority are BJP leaders and their associates conducting this investigation? If there are infiltrators, what were the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister doing all this time? Poor people are being insulted and tormented,” he alleged.

Speaking to reporters in Gosaiganj, Lucknow, on Friday, Akhilesh Yadav said that the public will decisively defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections. He claimed that people have now fully made up their minds to “defeat the BJP and give the country a new direction.”
The SP president also raised questions about the list of farmers released in Bihar and the process of obtaining Aadhaar cards and other documents. He asked what action was taken against the concerned officials if any documents were found to be fake. He alleged that the BJP is creating fear among the public to divert attention from real issues.
He also attacked what he called a massive scam involving codeine-based cough syrup. He stated that a major scandal has come to light in Varanasi and several other states. “Initially, it was estimated to be worth ₹100 crore, but now it could be more than ₹200 crore. Police, administration, and BJP people are involved in this illegal business,” he claimed.
Akhilesh Yadav said that many luxury cars were distributed as part of this illegal trade, but showroom owners are concealing information about who received these vehicles. “Cars were distributed on a large scale in Varanasi and Jaunpur,” he said.
Taking a dig at the BJP government’s bulldozer action, the SP president said that earlier the bulldozer was portrayed as a symbol of justice, but now it is nowhere to be seen. “The greatest injustice has been inflicted upon the PDA community. The bulldozers were only used where the weaker sections of society lived. Now that illegal businesses have been exposed, the bulldozers are nowhere to be seen. Perhaps the driver is lost or the key has gone missing,” he remarked.
Akhilesh Yadav further accused the BJP of having an anti-constitutional mindset, stating that the party does not respect the Constitution. “The SIR (Special Intensive Revision) is actually a form of the NRC (National Register of Citizens). The BJP is playing with people’s sentiments,” he said.
He also questioned the Central government’s economic policies. Referring to the rising value of the dollar and growing trade challenges, he said that India’s role in global politics needs serious rethinking. “The Russian President has come here for business, not to help us,” he added.
