Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that the wrong economic policies of the BJP government have ruined the country’s economy.
“Keeping in view the Lok Sabha elections of 2024, the central government has presented a populist budget and started touting it. In this budget too, the BJP government has habitually sidelined the basic issues of price rise, unemployment and corruption. They have kept their mouths closed and have kept silent by making some announcements to divert the attention of the public,” he said in a statement here on Thursday.
The Leader of Opposition in the state assembly said: “The country’s economy is controlled by a few capitalists. The BJP government is selling national assets in their hands. Industrialists have been given huge loans from the government and public institutions of the country.”
Without taking any name, Yadav said: “Due to the government protection of a big industrialist house, a huge empire was built, but another institution exposed the truth and cracked the walls of that empire which was built on the sand of lies. Its shares are falling rapidly in the stock market.”
He said that in the report of Oxfam International, it was said that just one per cent of the rich in India have captured more than 40 per cent of the country’s wealth. More than half of the country’s population accounts for just 3 per cent.
“The PM came to power in 2014 with the promise of reducing inflation, but has now forgotten the issue of reducing inflation. Today atta is being sold in the market at Rs.38-40 per kg. There is no restriction on the increased prices of petrol-diesel and gas. There is no control over the market,” he said.
The work of MGNREGA is also not catching up fast now. The poverty of the poor is being made fun of by just giving them free food grains, alleged the former Chief Minister.
The SP president said the claim of taking the country to great heights by the BJP is nothing but playing with the sentiments of the people.
The BJP wants to impose its rule on the public by adopting the divide and rule policy of the British. The income of the rich is increasing every day by crores of profits, while crores of people are forced to live in poverty and want, he added.
