Following a major seizure of contraband drugs worth nearly Rs 5 crore in the Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, the opposition Congress has accused the BJP of providing political patronage to the nationwide drug racket. Though the alleged kingpin, Rahul Aanjna, is reported to have links with the BJP, the party says it has removed him from his post.
Leader of the opposition in the MP Assembly, Umang Singhar, alleged that Rahul Aanjna’s nationwide drug operations could not have been carried out without political backing and police connections. Singhar said on Sunday that the saffron party’s alleged involvement highlights how the state is becoming a hub for narcotics. He questioned how such large-scale trafficking could happen without political protection.

According to Agar Malwa SP Vinod Kumar Singh, police teams are continuously searching for Rahul and another accomplice, Suresh, across MP and also in neighbouring Rajasthan.
Sources said that a police team has zeroed in on Rahul Aanjna, and he could be arrested anytime.
Sources said that during interrogation, the two arrested accomplices of Rahul, identified as Ishwar Malviya and Daulat Singh Anjana, told police that Rahul’s drug supply racket was spread across several states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Punjab.
According to SP Vinod Kumar Singh, the police seized the drugs on Saturday from two cars and arrested Ishwar Malviya and Daulat Singh Aanjna. The confiscated items included 9.25 kg of ketamine valued at about Rs 4.62 crore, 12.10 kg ammonium chloride, and 35 litres of isopropyl alcohol worth Rs 25 lakh, and 6 gm of MD drug priced at Rs 7,800.
The police recovered the drugs along with laboratory equipment, including a vacuum oven, magnetic stirrer, glassware, a gram panchayat seal, and four mobile phones.
The SP said that this was the biggest seizure of contraband narcotics in the district to date.
Police have registered cases against the accused under Sections 8 and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
