The controversy surrounding the alleged use of the Bharatiya Janata Party Kerala unit’s seal on a circular issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Kerala, has intensified, with the party approaching the Election Commission of India, alleging a larger political conspiracy.

BJP General Secretary S Suresh claimed that what initially appeared to be a procedural lapse has now assumed the dimensions of a “deliberate political plot” involving sections of the state administration and officials within the Election Commission.

He alleged that the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Kerala was acting as a “B team” of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and questioned the circumstances under which a circular bearing the BJP’s seal was issued.

Suresh further alleged that the official against whom action was taken is linked to pro-CPM organisations within the Secretariat. He named an officer, Jaisal P. Aziz, claiming that he was assigned the responsibility due to alleged connections with Democratic Youth Federation of India and Students Federation of India.

The BJP leader questioned how the official gained access to the party’s seal and why, among numerous submissions made to the Commission, only a BJP-related document was allegedly singled out and circulated.

Raising further concerns, he pointed to Nemom, where a Labour Department officer has reportedly been appointed as Returning Officer while the Labour Minister is contesting, and questioned the impartiality of the arrangement.

The BJP has formally lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India, seeking the immediate transfer of the official concerned and a comprehensive probe into the matter. It has also accused the ruling dispensation of attempting to influence the electoral process through administrative means.
