After the NDA won the Bihar Assembly polls with a landslide victory on Friday, Union Minister and LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday said that he met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on the alliance’s resounding victory.
Paswan added that he is delighted the Chief Minister appreciated the role of every alliance partner in the NDA for the victory in the Bihar assembly polls.

Paswan added, “I am happy that the NDA’s performance has demolished all the false narratives created by opposition leaders. When they claimed that the RJD was the biggest party and that the then Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, would soon take oath as Chief Minister, I had clearly said such claims had no basis.”

He added that in 2020, the opposition accused him of damaging the JD(U), claiming the RJD benefited from it. “They won more seats and became arrogant. Today, it is clear that the people have rejected them. After 2010, the RJD’s relevance has faded. The public had already rejected the ‘jungle raj’ of the 90s. In 2015, circumstances favoured them, and in 2020, the NDA was a bit scattered.”
“I met CM Nitish Kumar this morning, and our MLA delegation congratulated him on the historic win of the NDA under his leadership,” Paswan stated.
“We also discussed how the government will be formed, how it will be constituted, and the strategy going forward for our government. This is the second-best performance of our party, the first being in 2005 when this party contested alone and won 29 seats” Paswan further stated.
Paswan said many are calling this result ‘beyond imagination’, but he disagrees. “When the NDA stands united, the RJD’s existence becomes nearly impossible. Even my equation they boast about has collapsed, people now understand that the ‘Y’ in RJD’s MY stands for only one family.”
Paswan also said Nitish Kumar supported the LJP(RV) candidate when he went to vote.

“In Alauli, where I vote, I supported the JD(U) candidate. This shows that those who were misleading people about JD(U) and LJP(RV) were just setting a false narrative,” Paswan told the media, putting an end to the rhetoric in the political circles that Nitish Kumar is going through a rift with NDA partners.
In the 2025 Bihar Assembly Election results, the NDA emerged victorious with 202 seats. With this mandate, the BJP has firmly cemented itself as the biggest performer in the alliance.
Ahead of the results, speculation was rife regarding who would be the NDA’s chief ministerial face. The key question now is – will Nitish Kumar take oath as Bihar’s Chief Minister for a record 10th time?
Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) made a powerful comeback in 2025, winning 84 seats. In 2020, JD(U) had won 43 seats. The BJP, meanwhile, delivered a resounding performance, winning around 89 of the 101 seats it contested, becoming the top-performing party.
