Vice Chief of the Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, has said that the maritime force is monitoring the situation regarding submarines being provided to Pakistan by China, adding that efforts are already underway regarding counter measures, and the Navy is aware of the kind of capabilities required in the area of anti-submarine warfare.
He said that the Navy is monitoring other capabilities as well, and as to what should be the counters for the same, and accordingly, tactics are being evolved as part of the preparedness.

According to the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS), the Navy is aware of its submarine induction and regularly monitors developments to be prepared.
Vatsayan was addressing a press conference at the curtain raiser of the Navy’s Swavlamban 2025. Replying to a question, he said that the maritime force is in the process of acquiring new ships that are currently under construction, adding that around 52 ships will be inducted in the next two to three years.
He expressed confidence that whatever is required to be done from the perspective of building capabilities is being done.
Meanwhile, while highlighting key features of Swavlamban 2025, scheduled from 25 to 26 November 2025 at the Manekshaw Centre, Delhi, Vatsayan remarked that the event will highlight the Navy’s innovation and indigenisation efforts alongside the contributions of the Indian industry, with a focus on technological advances that can significantly enhance the nation’s defence capabilities.
He shared that Swavlamban 2025 will focus more on emerging and disruptive technologies to keep pace with the country’s changing security needs.
VCNS outlined the Navy’s steady strides toward Atmanirbharta in defence technologies, aligned with the Swavlamban 2025 theme, “Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation”, which highlights the Navy’s focus on collaborative and cutting-edge solutions for operational challenges.
The aim is not merely to display technologies, but to foster a culture of collaboration, experimentation and scaled adoption of indigenous solutions, he added.
