Former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly alleged that the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led incumbent government turned the assembly into a public meeting of the Congress.
Thakur, while talking to reporters at Tapovan, Dharamshala on Wednesday said that the way applause kept ringing from the audience’s gallery inside the House on Wednesday and unknown people kept sitting in the officer’s gallery, it was a clear reflection that the rules and regulations were not followed during the session.

“The rules have been torn apart,” he alleged.

He added that entry passes should not have been issued to a single person in the Vidhan Sabha audience gallery in excess of the capacity. But on the contrary, Congress supporters not only stood through the entire oath-taking ceremony in the audience gallery but also kept on clapping.
In such a situation, anything could happen within the assembly, he claimed.
On the issue of de-notifying institutions by the state government, the former CM said that it was understandable to close institutions after due consideration, but the manner in which the government de-notified institutions was unfortunate.
He alleged that the chief minister was doing this work under someone’s pressure, which was not right.
“Sukhu government’s passion for de-notification was such that it even de-notified a police post opened in 1952,” he said, alleging that by doing this the government had set a new trend in the state.
Advising the CM to move ahead with positive thinking, Thakur pointed out that his government also continued with the hundreds of institutions opened in the election year by the previous CM Virbhadra Singh’s government.
He added that this had happened for the first time in the history of the state that within 10 days of the formation of the government, people had come out against the government on roads in protest. Former CM warned that political vendetta would not be tolerated and BJP would strongly oppose such decisions inside and outside the House.
On the death of IPS officer SR Rana during Congress’ gratitude rally, Thakur accused the state government of being insensitive.
He said that an IPS officer on duty died in the Chief Minister’s gratitude rally, but despite that Sukhu didn’t stop the rally.
He said that Congress should have stopped its celebration immediately after this incident, but the CM remained insensitive.
