Retweeting a 2014 tweet by Amit Shah, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday challenged the BJP chief for a debate.

On the day when Shah assailed the Delhi government on a host of issues, including the contentious NRC, Kejriwal reminded the BJP chief of his promise for a debate if the Aam Aadmi Party chief continues in politics after 16 May 2014.

“Amit ji, you tried your best to wipe our existence out but the almighty is with us. Please tell, where and when will you debate (me)?” read a tweet in Hindi posted by the Delhi CM.

His tweet was accompanied by a tweet made by Amit Shah on 9 May 2014, days before the BJP came to power at the Centre. Shah’s tweet read, “If Arvind Kejriwal continues in politics after 16th May I will surely debate with him & fulfill his wish.”

As the BJP accused Kejriwal of “speaking lies boldly and publicly”, the Delhi CM countered by stating that his government had done “10 times more work” than what has been done PM Narendra Modi.

“Amit Shahji, our Delhi government has done 10 times more work than what Modiji has done during last four years. On the other hand look at the anti-people and wrong deeds of Modiji, we have not indulged in even a single act of that kind. I challenge you, come let us have a public debate at the Ramlila Maidan in front of the people of Delhi,” Kejriwal said in a previous tweet.

Addressing the Poorvanchal Mahakumbh Rally organised at Ramlila Maidan, Shah accused Kejriwal of stalling the development work in the city. But Kejriwal reminded the BJP that it too has responsibilities as it has MPs from Delhi.

“People of Delhi had given merely two works, policing and sanitation, and your party has proved to be a disaster in both. Neither have you been able to keep Delhi clean nor have you been able to perform policing functions properly.

“We were given the responsibility of electricity, water, education and health by the people of Delhi and our performance in these sectors is being lauded the world over,” Kejriwal added in tweets.
