The 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will be observed on Friday with a grand parade held in front of the magnificent Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat. The parade, which brings to life the concept of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, will be organised every year on 31 October.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah made the announcement while addressing a press conference in Patna on Thursday and said that this parade will be similar to the Republic Day parade organised on 26 January.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take the salute of the grand parade, where the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), several state police forces and over 900 artistes will showcase their skill, discipline, valour and heritage.

Shah said that this parade will serve as a strong medium to inspire the youth of the nation and educate them about Sardar Patel’s principles and his immense contributions to the country. He further said that this parade will help create a strong environment of unity and integrity in the country once again.

He informed that this year, the Run for Unity will be organised on a much larger scale, across the country. After the run, every citizen will also take a pledge for the unity and integrity of the nation.

He said that on the occasion of Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, Bharat Parv will be organised at Ekta Nagar, from 1 to 15 November.

The Bharat Parv will culminate with a grand celebration of tribal culture and cultural programmes to mark the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The celebration will showcase a wonderful synthesis of the cultural diversity, food, costumes, crafts, folk art and music of tribes from across the country.
