In an intelligence-led operation under the ongoing “Gangster Te Vaar” campaign—launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to make Punjab a gangster-free state—the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module.
Five operatives have been arrested, and six sophisticated pistols, 115 grams of heroin, and ₹11.90 lakh in drug money have been recovered from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Monday.

The arrested accused have been identified as Simaranjeet Singh alias Mannu (24), Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi (20), Sukhraj Singh alias Joga (24), and Sajan Singh alias Gursajan Singh alias Ladda, all residents of village Roda Wala Kalan, Amritsar, along with Molakdeep Singh (23), a resident of village Ranike, Amritsar.
The recovered weapons include two 9mm Glock pistols made in Austria, one Zigana pistol made in Turkey, two .32 bore pistols, and one .30 bore pistol, along with 10 live cartridges. Police teams have also impounded a Hyundai Creta car that was being used for smuggling activities.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested accused were actively linked to a cross-border smuggling network and were receiving consignments of arms and narcotics through drones from across the international border. Further investigations are underway to establish both forward and backward linkages of the network, he added.
Sharing operational details, Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that acting on specific and credible intelligence inputs regarding cross-border smuggling, police teams arrested Simaranjeet alias Mannu, Molakdeep Singh, Gurpreet alias Gopi, Sukhraj alias Joga, and Sajan alias Gursajan alias Ladda, and recovered two .32 bore pistols along with a car from their possession.
Subsequent interrogation led to further recoveries, resulting in the seizure of four additional pistols, 115 grams of heroin, and ₹11.90 lakh in drug money, clearly indicating their involvement in organised illegal arms and narcotics smuggling.
The CP further informed that investigations have revealed that accused Simaranjeet alias Mannu, Molakdeep Singh, and Gurpreet Singh are repeat offenders and were previously involved in cases registered under the NDPS Act.
He also stated that accused Simaranjeet alias Mannu had earlier worked as a truck driver in Dubai. Police teams are currently probing the financial trail and possible hawala links associated with the network.
In this regard, FIR No. 21 dated 3.2.2026 has been registered under Sections 25 and 25(8) of the Arms Act and Sections 21B, 27A, and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar.
