Akhilesh Yadav accuses in UP BJP government of ruining healthcare system

Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has ruined the state’s healthcare system during its years in office leaving hospitals in a state of disrepair.

He said, “Government hospitals lack the necessary equipment, medicines, and resources. There is a severe shortage of doctors. Common patients are unable to receive quality treatment in government hospitals. Even ambulances are not available to transport patients to hospitals. All the BJP government’s claims regarding hospitals and healthcare are false.”

In a statement here on Tuesday, Akhilesh Yadav said that heartbreaking news is coming daily about the state’s deteriorating healthcare system. “The BJP government has destroyed the entire system. Corruption and commission-taking are rampant under this government. There is widespread mismanagement in the supply of medicines and other essential equipment, the consequences of which are borne by the poor and patients. District hospitals lack resources. While there is dearth of doctors and nurses, oxygen plants are out of order,” he said.

The SP president stated that even hospitals in the capital and major cities lack essential facilities. Medical colleges and major institutions are receiving a huge influx of patients, but they are not receiving adequate treatment. The BJP government is not providing the necessary budget to the state’s major medical institutions and medical colleges. Buildings designated as medical colleges are constructed at district and divisional headquarters, but they lack testing and facilities for critical patients.

“The BJP government is unable to properly run the medical colleges and the Lucknow Cancer Institute established during the Samajwadi Party regime. In the face of government’s negligence and inaction, patients and attendants are helpless,” he added.

Yadav said after coming to power, the BJP government has completely crippled the 108 and 102 ambulance services. The situation has become so dire that even pregnant women are unable to access ambulance service. Attendants are forced to transport pregnant women in their own vehicles, sometimes by bullock cart and at others by car. Under-the-radar and lethal syrups were supplied under the government’s nose.

“The BJP government has failed to provide the public with essential services, including health care, electricity, education, and timely fertilizer and seeds. The BJP considers its achievement to be spreading hatred and diverting public attention,” he alleged.
