Akhilesh demands Rs 1 crore compensation for deceased UP BLOs from ECI

Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav, stating that the inhumane treatment and mental pressure being allegedly meted out with BLOs by giving them impractical SIR targets is highly condemnable and deeply objectionable, announced his pary’s support to every BLO in their pain and suffering.

In a statement here on Thursday, the SP chief said, “In the arrogance of power, the BJP government is assuming that even if someone dies due to work pressure, it will neither improve its system nor provide any compensation. Our direct appeal to the Election Commission is to provide compensation of ₹1 crore to the dependents of the deceased.”

The Samajwadi Party has decided to provide financial assistance of ₹2 lakh to the dependents of the deceased of the BLOs in the state.

“The BJP regime has provided nothing but various forms of harassment and unrest through this SIR.,” Akhilesh Yadav alleged, adding that the BJP has not created new jobs, but has made existing ones so difficult that people are forced to quit in frustration.

“It is inhumane to expect BLOs to forget their homes and families and work like machines by giving them impossible targets that cannot be met. The BJP is doing all this for its electoral scam, but the question is, why should BLOs who are leaving their jobs out of frustration or even risking their lives suffer the consequences of this political swindle? Employees across the country should unite and raise their voices against this. We stand with every BLO. We appeal to every BLO to refrain from taking any action that could harm their families under these circumstances,” he said.

The SP president said holding BLOs responsible for any mistakes is unjustified under any circumstances.

“BLOs are losing their lives due to the failure of the BJP government and the Election Commission. The right to vote is a constitutional right, voters should be respected, not humiliated by engaging in the SIR process, which causes numerous problems. The BJP wants to eliminate the right to vote. There is a risk that millions of people in Uttar Pradesh will have their votes cancelled. The BJP government, fearful of the PDA, is hatching all kinds of conspiracies,” he alleged.

Yadav said while this is a very painful period of BJP rule, we must remain patient and believe that the oppression of every cruel regime must eventually end. This is why truth and goodness have survived in this world. While intimidating people, the BJP itself has become afraid. Public anger is at its peak due to the excesses of BJP rule, he claimed.

He said that in these circumstances, if elections are held honestly, even the families of BJP members will not vote for the BJP. ” Peace will come if the BJP goes. BJP’s electoral corruption has physically and mentally broken the BLOs,” he further claimed.
