Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has said that the sudden crash of a large drone on a wheat field in the midst of war in West Asia caused panic and chaos in Nandpur village in the Saifai area of the Etawah district on Saturday leaving people wondering if a missile landed in their midst straying from warzone.

He said if it was part of a government test or experiment, the citizens of the state should have been notified in advance. When there was no certainty about whether the drone would fly, why was the risk of flying it in a public area taken? Had it fallen on a nearby settlement instead of the field, it could have resulted in the loss of life and property.

The government should investigate the matter, assess the economic loss and mental trauma to the farmer’s farm, and provide appropriate compensation to the farmer.

In future, all such tests and experiments should be conducted only in designated uninhabited areas, he demanded.

He asked why no test was successful under the BJP government? The people of Saifai are asking, “If BJP members can’t fly drones, how will they fly planes from Saifai’s airstrip, which the BJP has neglected and abandoned due to political rivalry.”
