Accident in Madhya Pradesh: 10 devotees killed as Tractor-Trolley overturns into Lake

At least ten devotees lost their lives when a tractor-trolley carrying them—along with Durga idols for immersion,overturned and plunged into a lake in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the Pandhana area, according to police officials.

Inspector General of Police Anurag confirmed that a large-scale rescue operation was promptly launched with the assistance of the police, the district administration, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local divers. The bodies of all ten victims were later recovered from the water.

Authorities reported that the devotees were transporting Durga idols from various local pandals for the ritual immersion when the tragedy struck.

Approximately six people managed to escape by swimming to safety immediately after the accident.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
