The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Friday, welcomed the decision of the Punjab Cabinet to give the green signal to the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

“The AAP government has fulfilled its another election promise and this time by taking a decision in favour of the working class of Punjab, which is a testament that the Mann government is working dedicatedly for the inclusive development of every section,” AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said while addressing a press conference.

He said the AAP government in Punjab has given a big relief to the government employees, who were neglected by anti-people politics of the BJP and the Congress. He said that it is the duty of the government to support the employees in their old age who have made their valuable contribution in the development of the state. However, the previous government ignored their rights.

Kang said that the Punjab government will appeal to the Union government’s Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) to return the NSP deposits of Rs 16,746 crore and it will be ensured that the employees’ fund money will be spent on them.

He said that the future of the employees of Punjab will be secured at all costs and with this decision of the AAP government of Punjab, it has become clear that if the government wants, the employees of every state can be given their rights.

Speaking on this occasion, AAP leader Neel Garg said the AAP government led by Bhagwant Mann is taking pro-people decisions every day. He said this time the electricity bills of 85 per cent of the houses in Punjab came to zero.

Thanks to the AAP government’s ‘zero tolerance’ against corruption, today everyone is afraid of indulging in corruption and the system is ultimately improving, providing major relief to common people, Garg said.

He said that the AAP government has given record-breaking jobs in its first eight months and has regularised jobs of the contractual employees. The government has taken major decisions in the interest of the farmers, including releasing the dues of MSP, sugarcane farmers.
