In a momentous spiritual development, North India remained poised to witness, for the first time, the Vishnu Sahasranama Kodi Archana Yajnam, a sacred Vedic ritual of unparalleled magnitude in the Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple, Mayur Vihar Phase-I, New Delhi, from 6th October to 1st November 2025.
The Arsha Dharma Parishad, the Temple’s governing body, had embarked on this monumental undertaking in reverential fulfilment of a long-cherished aspiration of devotees of Lord Guruvayurappan, thereby consecrating Delhi as the northern sanctum of this
spiritually exalting ritual, which has, until now, been performed only in the southern temples of Kerala.

The Kodi Archana is an extraordinary spiritual observance steeped in Vedic antiquity and
profound symbolism. Vishnu Sahasranama, composed by Sage Vyasa, stands as one of the most luminous compositions in Sanskrit spiritual literature, where each chant is a vibration of cosmic consciousness. The chanting of these thousand epithets of Lord Vishnu – the Preserver of the Cosmos, accompanied by ten million floral oblations, embodies
not merely a ritual performance but a metaphysical offering to the Divine, symbolizing the
harmony between human devotion and cosmic order. Rooted in the Sanatana Dharma and
consecrated through intricate Tantric rites, this sacred yajnam invokes the divine energy that sustains life, confers protection, and ushers prosperity, serenity, and spiritual evolution.
Over 27 consecrated days, learned Archakas from Kerala keeps chanting the Vishnu Sahasranama corresponding to each of the 27 Nakshatras, accompanied by sanctified floral offerings and Poorna Silver Kalasams, symbolizing abundance and purity. The ceremony was preceded by purification rites – Praasada Sudhi and Bimba Sudhi, ensuring both spiritual and physicalsanctity of the Temple.
The ritual culminates in the Laksha Deeparchana on 2nd November 2025, an ethereal spectacle where lamps will illuminate the temple precincts, transforming it into a resplendent ocean of divine light. Beyond its liturgical splendour, the event will be a veritable confluence of devotion, culture, and tradition. Each day’s rituals will be accompanied
by the rhythmic grandeur of Panchavadyam, Thayambaka, Melam, and Keli, a classical temple
art form that embodies Kerala’s sacred musical heritage.
Devotees are immersed not in prayers only, but in an aesthetic and cultural experience that harmonises sound, rhythm, and divinity. The Poorna silver Kalasam, filled daily with fragrant sandalwood paste and sanctified amidst Vedic chants, are used to anoint the idol of Lord Guruvayurappan during the morning Pooja, completing each day’s divine cycle.
This unparalleled endeavour, organized without precedence in northern India, is not merely an event but an epochal spiritual renaissance. It exemplifies the indomitable spirit, devotion, and organizational tenacity of countless devotees who have elevated this initiative to a spiritual congregation. The Vishnu Sahasranama Kodi Archana stands as a beacon of India’s living spiritual heritage where faith transcends geography, and the eternal flame of Sanatana Dharma continues to illumine the path of collective peace, harmony, and divine grace.
