700 km cycling expedition of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry flagged off

The expedition is being led by Major Dipesh Mahadik and will traverse a distance of 700 km from Udhampur to Delhi over a period of eight days and will culminate at India Gate, New Delhi after having passed through the states of J&K, Punjab, and Haryana.

A cycling expedition comprising of one officer and nine soldiers of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry was flagged off on Saturday by Lt Gen JS Nain, Chief of Staff, Northern Command at Udhampur Military Station.

The Chief of Staff complimented the team for undertaking the expedition which symbolises adventure, courage, and fortitude of Armed Forces with an indomitable spirit.

The expedition is being led by Major Dipesh Mahadik and will traverse a distance of 700 km from Udhampur to Delhi over a period of eight days and will culminate at India Gate, New Delhi after having passed through the states of J&K, Punjab, and Haryana.

The expedition is being undertaken to commemorate Infantry Day on October 27.  The expedition is also symbolic of Indian Army’s ethos of National Integration beyond the boundaries of state, caste, and culture besides promoting the spirit of adventure and inculcating camaraderie and team spirit.

Similar expeditions are also being undertaken by all Infantry Regiments of Indian Army and they will culminate at Delhi on Infantry Day.
