Police have registered a case of accidental death and started further investigating the matter.

A government engineer was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance Department on Wednesday, May 20, a day after officials unearthed multiple assets that were disproportionate to his known source of income.
In total, the officials found 97 land parcels, five buildings, two farmhouses, a market complex and other assets in the case, PTI reported.

The government engineer has been identified as Bhubaneswar Sabar, who worked as an executive engineer in the roads and buildings division. He was taken into custody after he failed to satisfactorily justify his assets with regard to his income, according to an officer of the vigilance department.

The vigilance department had on Tuesday conducted raids at multiple locations. Later on, the enginner was found to be in possession of five buildings, including four multi-storey ones as well as 97 plots totalling 83 acres, two farm houses of 17 acres, a market complex with eight cabins, among others.
Besides this, the vigilance department also seized deposits worth ₹10.72 lakh, a four-wheeler along with cash and household articles worth around ₹19.78 lakh.
They have registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the government engineer.
