The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today launched the three-day ‘Har Ghar Tiranga – Patriotic Film Festival.’ Organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), the festival is a cinematic tribute to India’s independence, with screenings scheduled in Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, and Chennai.
Addressing the gathering in New Delhi, Minister of Art, Culture and Language, NCT of Delhi, Kapil Mishra, said cinema has the power to immortalize the sacrifices of freedom fighters and inspire generations. “The Har Ghar Tiranga – Patriotic Film Festival is not just a celebration of cinema, but a reminder of the journey that brought us independence,” he added.

Launching the festival in Mumbai, Secretary, MIB, Sanjay Jaju said the event aims to showcase India’s rich cultural history and heritage through cinema. “Cinema, being a visual medium, leaves a lasting impact on viewers. This festival seeks to spark the spirit of patriotism among all Indians,” Jaju remarked.
Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar, speaking at the Mumbai event, said she was honoured to be part of the initiative. “These films remind us of the resilience and courage of our people, and it’s important that we continue to share these stories,” she said.
The festival line-up includes: Shaheed (1965), Swatantrya Veer Savarkar (2024), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), RRR (2022), Tanhaji (2020), Major (2022), Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Veerapandia Kattabomman (1959), Kranti (1981), Haqeeqat (1964), Parasakthi (1952), and Saat Hindustani (1969).
In addition to feature films, the festival will showcase educational documentaries providing historical context, such as Our Flag, Lokmanya Tilak, Tilak, and Shahadat. Four landmark films — Kranti (1981), Haqeeqat (1964), Saat Hindustani (1969), and Shaheed (1965) — will be screened in their digitally restored versions, undertaken by the National Film Archive of India (NFAI).
The festival will conclude on August 13.
