Millions of devotees and tourists have arrived in the holy city of Kashi to witness the Ganga Aarti and the divine spectacle of the ghats during the Dev Deepawali festival. Security has been tightened in the temple city with the deployment of 2500 police personnel.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kashi) Saravanan T said on Monday that more than 2500 police personnel are being deployed for special security arrangements on Dev Deepawali on November 5.

The Ganga River will be divided into 14 sectors, and special divers will be deployed along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Water Police personnel.

Twenty-one anti-Romeo teams and a QRT will also be deployed at the ghats. Security personnel will monitor crowded areas from 28 watchtowers. Technical teams will monitor crowded areas using drones, surveillance, and AI (Artificial Intelligence). Plainclothes female police personnel will also be present at Assi, Dashashwamedh, Raj Ghat, Namo, Ravidas, Rajendra Prasad, and Sheetla Ghat.

Eight ghats connecting to direct routes have been identified, where additional police personnel will be deployed. More than 2,000 CCTV cameras will monitor the entire city. Flying drones of any kind without permission is strictly prohibited. The Municipal Corporation, the Water Police, and the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) are inspecting dilapidated or old boats and canoes. Green marks are being placed on boats that are operational, and red marks on damaged boats and canoes.
