The month-long Summer Training Programme 2026, jointly organised by Patanjali University and Patanjali Research Institute, Haridwar, concluded on Saturday with a grand valedictory ceremony.
A total of 130 students from 11 states participated in the programme, gaining hands-on experience in modern scientific research, the Indian knowledge tradition, and holistic personality development.
The programme offered laboratory-based scientific training to participants, who were also familiarised with Indian culture, yoga, yajna, and ethical values.
Addressing the valedictory ceremony, Patanjali University Vice-Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna and Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat extended their best wishes to the participants for their future.
Acharya Balkrishna said that India’s ancient rishi tradition and modern science complement each other. He remarked that a student engaged in laboratory research, while also rooted in Indian culture, yoga and yajna, develops into a more balanced, disciplined individual dedicated to serving the nation.
“We want every student leaving this institution to be more than just a degree-holder. They should be individuals of character, committed to research and dedicated to nation-building,” he said.
Dr Rawat said the training programme reflects the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by equipping students not only with subject knowledge but also with practical skills, research capabilities, an understanding of the Indian knowledge system, and ethical values.
He urged the participants to share the knowledge and experiences gained during the programme with their respective institutions and serve as a bridge between science and society.
All participants were awarded certificates.
Senior scientists, professors, researchers, training coordinators, officials and staff members of Patanjali University and Patanjali Research Institute were also present at the ceremony.
One of the key highlights of the month-long programme was that each day began with a Vedic yajna and yoga session. This was followed by practical training in modern scientific instruments and research techniques across various laboratories.
Expert scientists conducted lectures and hands-on sessions on microbiology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, medicinal plants, molecular biology and several other scientific disciplines.
Participants said the training extended far beyond laboratory learning and inspired them to adopt a disciplined and balanced lifestyle while nurturing scientific thinking.
They noted that the integrated approach combining science, yoga, yajna and ethical values is rare in the country and would remain a source of inspiration throughout their academic and professional careers.
Five outstanding participants selected on the basis of academic performance, laboratory work, discipline, participation in yoga and yajna, and overall personality development were also facilitated during the closing ceremony.
They were presented with a Havan Kit as a symbol of the harmonious blend of Indian cultural values and scientific excellence.
The five awardees were – Chandrika Goyal, Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh; Meghna Gupta, Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh; Badal Panchal, ITM University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh; Arvitika Tyagi, SD College of Pharmacy, Uttar Pradesh;Ananya Uniyal, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Uttarakhand.
