It’s significant that Uttarakhand police on Sunday arrested 25 men allegedly for attacking police during mob unrest on February 8 at Malik ka Bagicha area Haldwani.

The Uttarakhand government on Monday suspended 127 licences of people allegedly involved in the mob violence at Haldwani. Nanital district magistrate issued an order and directed SSP Nainital to confiscate and take custody of all ammunition of suspended license within 24 hours.

Order issued by the additional district magistrate alleged that residents of Banbhulpura police station used their licensed and illegally procured arms in the February 8 mob attack against the anti-encroachment team of Haldwani Municipal Corporation and the police.

Local public in Banbhulpura police station area attacked police and municipal corporation team with their licensed and illegal arms inflicting severe injuries to more than 100 government officials and empoyees. Those attacked the police and government officials voilated terms and conditions of the licenses for the arms issued to them.“

Nanital ADM’s order further stated “Seeing at similar miuse of the licensed arms and attacks against anti-encroachment campaigns to free government lands by the government in future Nainital district magistrate has suspended 127 arms licenses of 120 persons till further orders. Senior Superintendent of Police Nainital is ordered to ensure that all license suspended arms be taken into police custody within 24 hours.”

Meanwhile chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced plans to construct new police station building on the encroached government land vacated by the municipal team.

“A police station will be constructed at the place where illegal encroachment was removed in Banbhulpura, Haldwani. It’s a clear message from our government to the miscreants and rioters that no one playing with the peace of Devbhoomi will be spared. There is no place for miscreants and rowdies in Uttarakhand” said Dhami.
