The trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha starrer Dream Girl is out. Makers launched the film’s trailer live on Facebook.

A mad and colourful riot of a trailer, Dream Girl opens with a rather unexpected entry of Ayushmann as “Sita” who later becomes Pooja, an imaginary friend that many want to marry, or date. Ayushmann is seen in a never sen before look, from doing stage plays as iconic woman characters of Hindu epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata to working as an agony aunt.

In one of the theatre scenes, he plays Draupadi and calls out to his fellow actors,” Kab tak aurton ki unki icha ke bager baatein rahoge tum, Mahabharata ke time pe #MeToo hua hota na, sabse pehle tum log andar jate.”( How long will you keep exploiting women against their will, Had the #MeToo movement happened during Mahabharata, all Kauravas would have gone to jail). A stand-out scene of the trailer that has seasoned actors play supporting characters.

Dream Girl‘s trailer lends a breath of fresh air to the comedy genre that has been overused and exploited in Hindi cinema forever.

Ayushmann Khurrana shines with his performance in the trailer. He is all out there with no inhibitions whatsoever.

A supporting cast of actors like Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Bannerjee, Manjot Singh, Nidhi Bisht, Rajesh Sharma, Raj Bhansali among others are also there in the film.

Set against the backdrop of Mathura, Dream Girl is promoted as a “comedy of errors”. The trailer synopsis of the film said, “From the local cop to a ‘Haryanvi’ gujjar boy, to his girlfriend’s brother, everybody is smitten by Dream Girl Pooja and her mesmerising voice, leading to a series of unusual, crazy situations.”

Ayushmann Khurrana shared the trailer of the film on social media with a post that read, “Tring Tring! Dekho na… Mera Trailer! Taiyaar ho jayein milne Pooja urf #DreamGirl se. Trailer out now! ”

Written and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Shobhaa Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, Dream Girl releases on September 13, 2019.
