Looks like the RK Family Trust drama is far from over. Rani Kapur, mother of late Comstar Chairman Sunjay Kapur, is turning up heat on her daughter-in-law Priya Kapur in legal showdown.
The simmering dispute took sharp turn when Rani Kapur issued formal notice on March 21, 2026. She called for Priya Kapur’s removal as trustee of RK Family Trust.

The notice cites the trust deed dated October 26, 2017. It claims that Priya’s position as a trustee is being questioned amid allegations of asset mismanagement.
Alleged “fraudulent” trust under scrutiny
According to Rani Kapur, the trust was allegedly used to hold assets that she claims belong to her personally. She also raised doubts about whether the trust itself is even valid and whether the assets were properly settled into it.
The notice references a meeting allegedly held on June 25, 2025, shortly after Sunjay Kapur’s death, in which Priya was appointed as a trustee.
However, these claims are now being actively contested in the Delhi High Court. Lawyers for Rani Kapur argue that the trust’s legitimacy and administration are under serious question, while the trust deed itself is being used to assert its authority.
Clause 8.12(i) becomes Rani’s weapon
The notice leans on Clause 8.12(i) of the trust deed, which reportedly allows Rani Kapur to remove any trustee without providing reasons. Exercising this power, the notice states that Priya Kapur will automatically be removed 15 days after receiving it.
At the same time, the notice makes it clear that this step does not limit Rani Kapur’s broader legal claims. She is challenging the creation of the trust, the transfer of family assets into it, and the authority of appointed trustees.
The notice also explicitly tells Priya that, regardless of the trust’s eventual validation or invalidation by the court, she cannot act as a trustee once the notice period expires.
Protecting the family legacy
This legal tussle comes after Rani Kapur approached the Delhi High Court earlier in 2026, alleging that Priya Kapur used the family trust in a “fraudulent” manner to strip her of her rightful estate following Sunjay Kapur’s death in June 2025.
Rani is seeking cancellation of the trust and legal protection to safeguard the family legacy she claims is under threat.
