Veteran Telugu actor Ravi Teja is going through a personal loss as his father, Rajagopal Raju, passed away late Tuesday night in Hyderabad. He was 90 years old.
Rajagopal Raju had been battling age-related health issues for some time. Family sources confirmed to the media that he breathed his last peacefully at his son Ravi Teja’s residence. He leaves behind his wife, Rajya Lakshmi, and his two sons, Ravi Teja and Raghu Raju.

Rajagopal Raju preferred to keep away from the limelight despite his son’s towering popularity in the Telugu film industry. Before retirement, he worked as a pharmacist and stayed grounded.
As the news of his passing spread, it cast a shadow over Tollywood. Condolences poured in from actors, directors, and fans alike, acknowledging the loss faced by Ravi Teja and his family.
Megastar Chiranjeevi, who shared a warm rapport with father of Ravi Teja, remembered him in a heartfelt message.
“I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Rajagopal Raju garu. I last met him during the shoot of ‘Waltair Veerayya’. My prayers are with the family. May his soul rest in peace,” Chiranjeevi said.
Fans of Ravi Teja also took to social media to express their sympathies, posting messages of support and sharing fond memories of the actor’s interactions with his father.
Ironically, the news came on the same day that actor Naveen Chandra announced a major update about Ravi Teja’s upcoming film, ‘Mass Jathara’.
Chandra had excitedly shared on social media that the dubbing process for the film had begun. “This one’s going to be loud, raw, and rooted,” he had written, praising Ravi Teja and co-star Sreeleela for their roles in the project.
‘Mass Jathara’, directed by Bhanu Bogavarapu and produced by Sithara Entertainments, is ready for a theatrical release on August 27.
Meanwhile, Ravi Teja is also gearing up for another big project with director Kishore Tirumala. Tentatively titled ‘RT76’, the film is being produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner.
