Actress Nidhhi (Nidhi) Agerwal experienced a frightening moment on Wednesday during the launch of the song ‘Sahana Sahana’ from her upcoming film ‘The Raja Saab’. The event, held at a popular Hyderabad mall, quickly turned chaotic as a crowd of fans and bystanders surrounded her. Video clips from the scene show Agerwal struggling to make her way to her car while security personnel worked hard to guide her safely through the throng.
The incident sparked online outrage, with singer Chinmayi Sripada calling the crowd’s behaviour harassment. She shared her anger on X, writing, “Pack of men behaving worse than hyenas… Put ‘likeminded’ men together in a mob, they will harass a woman like this. Why doesn’t some God take them all away and put them in a different planet?”
Suo motu against Lulu Mall management
Following the incident, the KPHB police have taken suo motu action, filing a case against both the mall management and the event organisers.
According to KPHB Inspector S. Rajashekar Reddy, the event was conducted without proper permissions. “A case is being registered against the mall management and the organisers for holding the programme without authorisation,” he told The Hindu.
Police officials are now investigating the event to identify lapses in crowd management and security arrangements. Early reports suggest that inadequate planning and the absence of strict safety measures contributed to the chaos.
Who is Niddhi Agerwal?
Nidhhi Agerwal’s journey in the film industry began with a major Bollywood launch. In 2016, director Sabbir Khan chose her to star opposite Tiger Shroff in ‘Munna Michael’. It received mixed to negative reviews from critics. But it helped her gain recognition in the industry.
Her first big step into Telugu cinema came in 2018 with ‘Savyasachi’ starring alongside Naga Chaitanya. Unfortunately, the movie failed to impress at the box office.
The following year, she had two releases: ‘Mr. Majnu’ with Akhil Akkineni, which underperformed, and ‘iSmart Shankar’ with Ram Pothineni, which became a commercial hit and ran for more than 100 days.
2019 was also a busy year for Agerwal in music videos, appearing in ‘Unglich Ring Daal De’ by Jyotica Tangri and ‘AAHO! Mittran Di Yes Hai’ with Badshah.
Exploring South Indian cinema
Agerwal made her Tamil debut in 2021 with ‘Eeswaran’, starring opposite Silambarasan. The film received mixed reviews and performed averagely at the box office.
Later that year, she featured in ‘Bhoomi’ with Jayam Ravi, which was met with negative reviews. She also appeared in the music recreation of Altaf Raja’s hit song ‘Saath Kya Nibhaoge’ alongside Sonu Sood.
In 2022, Agerwal starred in ‘Hero’ opposite debutant Ashok Galla. Critics and audiences had mixed reactions to the movie.
However, her next project, ‘Kalaga Thalaivan’, an action-thriller with Udhayanidhi Stalin, received positive reviews.
Most recently, Nidhhi appeared as Panchami in the big-budget historical drama ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’, released in July 2025.
