Actor and politician Kamal Haasan has congratulated 4-year-old Treesha Thosar, who recently won the National Award for Best Child Artist.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Haasan wrote, “Dear Ms. Treesha Thoshar, my loudest applause goes to you. You’ve beaten my record, as I was already six when I got my first award! Way to go, madam. Keep working on your incredible talent. My appreciation to your elders in the house.”

Kamal Haasan himself is no stranger to early success. He achieved one of the rarest milestones in Indian cinema by winning the President’s Gold Medal at just six years old for his performance in the Tamil classic ‘Kalathur Kannamma’.
Now, Treesha has become the youngest to match such a remarkable feat. She has earned her award at just four.
Raaj Kamal Films International, Haasan’s production house, shared a video showing the actor congratulating Treesha over a video call. In the clip, Haasan can be seen speaking with the young actor, telling her, “I saw you getting an award. Congratulations,” and asking about her future projects.
The video’s caption summed up the moment perfectly: “From one child prodigy to another, @ikamalhaasan Sir himself has congratulated #TreeshaThosar for winning her first National Award. What a moment for Indian cinema! #KamalHaasan Sir won his first #NationalAward at six, now Treesha Thosar at four! Congratulations, Treesha, you are already inspiring the nation!”
Treesha Thosar received the Best Child Artist Award at the 71st National Film Awards for her role in the Marathi film ‘Naal 2’. The young starlet looked absolutely charming in a golden saree as she walked up to the stage to collect her trophy. Her presence was met with loud cheers and applause, even drawing smiles from Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji.
In an interview with ANI, Treesha shared her excitement: “I felt great after receiving the award. The President congratulated me. I prepared for this in a single day.”
