‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ release date shifted

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, which was earlier slated to release on Valentine’s Day 2020 alongside Imtiaz Ali’s film which has Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan in the lead, will now release on 13 March 2020.

Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan went on floors on Tuesday. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced the news on social media.

The film will deal with the subject of homosexuality and the taboo around it. Earlier, the film created headlines with its 50-second long official teaser which had animation play out the plight of same-sex love and relationships in Indian history, chronicling from Mirza-Sahiba to Raj-Simran, etc.

Touted to be a sequel of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan which featured Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann in the lead, the film had also been in news for casting issues for the male lead opposite Ayushmann.

The upcoming film will also see a small reunification with Ayushmann’s Badhaai Ho co-stars, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao, who played his parents in the 2018 hit.

While Hitesh Kewalya wrote the screenplay and dialogues for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan which was critically acclaimed for a bold subject choice, he will now be directing it’s sequel.
