Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming film Gulabo Sitabo that will bring megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor Ayushmann Khurrana together on the big screen gets a new release date.

Helmed by Sircar, the Rising Sun Films production was earlier expected to release in April 2020.

On Wednesday, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his official Twitter handle to share the news. He posted a new look featuring Ayushmaan Khurana and Amitabh Bachchan. Alongside the picture, he captioned, “IT’S OFFICIAL… New release date… #GulaboSitabo to release *earlier*: 28 Feb 2020… Stars Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana… Directed by Shoojit Sircar… Here’s the first look of Ayushmann from the film (sic).”

The family comedy is set in Lucknow.

Written by Sircar’s frequent collaborator Juhi Chaturvedi of Vicky Donor, Piku and October fame, Gulabo Sitabo will be produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar.

Gulabo Sitabo is a legendary pair of puppet sisters who have been part of Uttar Pradesh’s folklore. The film, apparently, is a takeoff on these two characters and is believed to be a comedy.

The film is now slated to release on February 28, 2020.
