Television actor Rohit Chandel has been arrested by Mumbai Police. The charges involve stalking, harassment and assault of a 16-year-old girl.
Police took the 29-year-old actor into custody on Friday. The arrest happened at his residence in Dahisar. Pant Nagar Police carried out the operation.

Chandel was later produced before a special POCSO court. The court remanded him to police custody. POCSO stands for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. It covers crimes against minors in India.

What the complaint alleges
The complaint states that Chandel had been disturbing the minor for some time. He reportedly called her repeatedly from different phone numbers. The two knew each other before the alleged incidents began.
The complaint also describes an incident on July 5. It alleges that Chandel followed the victim near her housing society. He allegedly stopped her by force. He is also accused of verbally abusing her.
When the girl resisted, according to the complaint, Chandel assaulted her physically. Police have not released further details about the extent of the alleged assault.
Charges filed
Mumbai Police have registered a case against Chandel. The charges fall under the POCSO Act. Police have also added sections of the Indian Penal Code. These cover stalking and voluntarily causing hurt.
Investigators say they are continuing to gather evidence. The case remains under active investigation.
Who is Rohit Chandel?
Chandel is known for his work in Indian television and web series. His credits include Pandya Store, Sairaab and Kashibai Bajirao Ballal.
He was born in 1995 in Maharashtra. Before breaking into acting, he faced around 90 rejections. He eventually landed his first commercial, which opened the door to more work.

Chandel began his television career with a small role. He appeared in the series Har Mushkil Ka Hal – Akbar Birbal. He later gained wider recognition through Escaype Live and Chandragupta Maurya.
His most notable roles came later in his career. He played Baji Rao in Zee TV’s Kashibai Bajirao Ballal. That show ran from 2021 to 2022. He also played Dhawal Makwana in StarPlus’s Pandya Store. That role ran from 2023 to 2024.
