‘Alien: Earth’ season 2 officially happening: Everything we know so far
Production for season 2 is ready to begin in London in 2026. Interestingly, while the debut season was filmed in Thailand, the next one will shift its backdrop to the UK.
Season 2 just added Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell, and Jerome Flynn to its cast, with cameras already rolling at the same Pinewood stages where the original 1979 film was born.

FX’s ‘Alien: Earth’ is growing its cast for season two. Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell, and Jerome Flynn have all signed on, according to multiple entertainment outlets. They will join previously announced cast member Peter Dinklage, returning star Sydney Chandler, and other returning actors including Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Babou Ceesay, Samuel Blenkin, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Moe Bar-El, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver.
Filming has started. Production on season two is now underway in London. The season is shooting at Pinewood Studios, the same site used for the original “Alien,” along with “Aliens,” “Alien 3,” and “Prometheus.” There is a family connection behind the scenes too. The show’s new production designer, Neil Lamont, is the son of Peter Lamont, who was production designer on the original “Alien.”

Ullman brings serious award pedigree to the project. She is a seven-time Emmy winner, with two wins for “The Tracey Ullman Show” and one for outstanding guest actress in a comedy for “Ally McBeal.” Her most recent nomination came for the FX limited series “Mrs. America.”
Her recent work spans both comedy and drama. She has appeared in shows like “Howards End” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” along with films such as “Steve” and “The Prom.” She also recently guest-starred on CBS’s “Elsbeth” and has a part in the upcoming fourth season of “Ted Lasso.”
Spruell’s casting reunites him with the man running the show. He previously worked with “Alien: Earth” creator Noah Hawley on season five of Hawley’s FX anthology series “Fargo.” In that season, Spruell played the character Ole Munch.
He has recent high-profile credits as well. Spruell starred in the HBO “Game of Thrones” prequel “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” playing Maekar Targaryen. His other credits include “Dear England,” “The Northwater,” “Small Axe,” and “Luther,” plus film roles in “H Is for Hawk,” “Outlaw King,” “The Martian,” “The Hurt Locker,” and “K-19: The Widowmaker.”
Flynn is a familiar face from another major fantasy series. He is best known for playing Bronn on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” That role gives him a built-in reunion on this new set. Flynn joins Peter Dinklage, his former “Game of Thrones” co-star, on the “Alien: Earth” cast.
His resume includes several other notable projects. He recently appeared opposite Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in the “Yellowstone” prequel “1923” on Paramount+. His other credits include “Black Mirror,” “Ripper Street,” and the film “John Wick 3.”
Each actor has industry representation lined up. Ullman is represented by CAA and Hamilton Hodell. Spruell is represented by Lou Coulson Associates, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Narrative. Flynn is represented by Curtis Brown and Gersh.
“Alien: Earth” wrapped its first season on a cliffhanger, and Hawley has said he plans to build on that. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after the finale, Hawley said the chapter was closed but that Yutani troops were landing, hinting at more story to come.
The show is set in a future where corporations hold enormous power. The story takes place in the year 2120, when five corporations wield the power of nations and new technology promises a better future. When a mysterious spacecraft crashes on Earth, a young woman and a group of tactical soldiers uncover the planet’s greatest threat.
