Sidharth Malhotra also took this happy news to his Twitter handle.

Earlier speculations came up that the film is delayed. But a source informed  Deccan Chronicle that “Sidharth had reached out to a whole lot of people, but the first of them was Karan Johar, his mentor. Sidharth believed that Karan would welcome the idea. But, then he was shocked when Karan decided not to take up the film.”

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sidharth said, “It is based on a real person and I think one needs to handle that with a lot of sensitivity. The character that I’ll be playing next is very sensitive and his story is also quite touching. When I was approached for the film, and they spoke to me about the character, I felt it means a lot to me and I have so much respect for him.”

The Kargil hero was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra — India’s highest war-time gallantry award.
