According to court filings obtained by ‘People’ magazine, Richards has requested a temporary domestic violence restraining order, accusing Phypers of physical and emotional abuse that she claims went on for years.

Richards, 54, detailed incidents that allegedly took place between July 4 and July 14, calling it the most recent in a pattern of violent behavior. She alleges that throughout their marriage, Phypers frequently threatened her life, and his own, as well as threatening to harm police officers if they intervened.

The couple, who married in 2018, had long presented a united front publicly.

In her court documents, the ‘Wild Things’ actress also raised serious concerns about firearms in their household.

Denise Richards claims that Aaron Phypers owns at least eight unregistered guns. She says he used intimidation tactics to control her, warning her that she would “disappear” if she ever called the police for help.

Richards alleges the abuse wasn’t limited to threats. She shared accounts of physical violence, including a terrifying episode in which Phypers allegedly grabbed her by the hair and slammed her to the ground when she mentioned canceling his flight for a trip.

According to Richards, Phypers refused to let her travel alone, yelling, “I’m going with you. I don’t trust you.”

In another incident described in the court documents, Richards said Phypers went through her phone and laptop while she was asleep, copying her private messages onto his own devices. She says he woke her in a rage, hurling insults and calling her a “lying b****”.

She also claimed he physically assaulted her while she was using the bathroom, striking her on the head with his palm and demanding access to her phone.

These revelations came to light just as Phypers himself filed for divorce on July 7, citing “irreconcilable differences.” He listed July 4, the same day Richards alleges a violent altercation occurred, as their official date of separation.

Following these allegations, the Superior Court of California has granted Richards a temporary restraining order, providing her with legal protection while the matter moves through the courts.
