The music world is still in shock over the untimely death of legendary singer Zubeen Garg, and his wife, Garima Saikia, is urging everyone to respect the investigation and avoid politicising the tragedy.
Speaking to the media, Garima shared her deep concern and patience while waiting for justice. “I am keeping my faith. Five to six people have been arrested in this case, but the truth is yet to come out. I am waiting patiently. People are cooperating with the investigation team and the judicial system. I hope the truth comes out soon,” she said.

Garima also made a heartfelt plea to eyewitnesses. “It has been 21 days since Zubeen’s death. Those who were present should come forward. We have lost our icon, our heartbeat. This should not be politicised,” she added.

The case has seen significant developments recently. On Wednesday, the Assam government suspended Assam Police Service (APS) officer Sandipan Garg, who had been arrested by the SIT/CID in connection with Zubeen’s death.

Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19 in Singapore. This was just a day before he was scheduled to perform at the Northeast India Festival. His body was first flown to Delhi and later taken to Guwahati on September 21, where fans and family paid their respects.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been probing the circumstances surrounding his death. So far, six individuals have been arrested, including key figures connected to Zubeen’s professional circle. These include the main event organiser Shyamku Mahanta, Zubeen’s manager Siddhant Sharma, his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, co-singer Amritprava Mahanta, and the recently suspended officer Sandipan Garg.
Initially, reports suggested that Zubeen died in a scuba diving accident in Singapore. According to the ‘Detailed Grounds of Arrest’ document, Shekhar alleged that a “conspiracy” was hatched to make Zubeen’s death appear accidental.
