When the offer for ‘Dhadak 2’ came to Siddhant Chaturvedi, he knew the comparisons with the original were inevitable. But for Siddhant, it wasn’t about recreating what had already been done, it was about telling a story that felt personal.
“I didn’t have to think twice,” Siddhant said in a candid chat with IANS. “The moment I heard the narration, I knew this film was for me. There’s something about the story that grabbed me instantly. It’s one of those scripts where your gut tells you, this matters.”

While ‘Dhadak’ (2018), starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, was a sweet, bittersweet romance, Siddhant hints that ‘Dhadak 2’ goes deeper, tackling serious themes while keeping the love story at its heart.
“This isn’t just about romance,” he added. “It’s about choices, consequences, and the emotional price you pay for love.”
Siddhant also spoke warmly about his bond with co-star Triptii Dimri. According to him, their off-camera friendship made a huge difference to the film’s emotional tone.
“We’re actually really good friends,” he said, laughing. “We had a blast shooting together! We could say anything to each other without filters, that kind of comfort translates on screen. It’s like that school friend vibe where you’re constantly pulling each other’s leg but also have each other’s back.”
But he’s quick to clarify that once the director called ‘Action’, they knew when to focus. “The film deals with sensitive issues, so we had to balance our energies. If I was filming a heavy scene, she’d crack a joke right before to lighten the mood. And when she had an intense sequence, I’d do the same for her. It’s teamwork.”
Siddhant praised director Shazia Iqbal for keeping the cast grounded during filming. “Shazia is brilliant. She’s got this amazing ability to make everyone feel safe enough to be vulnerable in front of the camera. She let us find our own rhythm, and that’s rare.”
Produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra, Umesh Bansal, Meenu Arora, and Adar Poonawalla, ‘Dhadak 2’ promises to bring a fresh take on young love.
