John Abraham-starrer Satyamev Jayate is all set to release on August 15, setting the stage for a triangular clash at the box office with Akshay Kumar’s Gold and Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se this Independence Day.

The official announcement for the release of Satyamev Jayate came on Wednesday when the makers of the film released the first official poster of the film on their social media handles and announced the release date.

So it’s set now. It’s Gold vs YPD 3 vs Satyamev Jayate on August 15, which just might be the biggest and first big clash of 2018 where big stars will be battling for supremacy at the box office.

Earlier, we told you how 2018 has been the year of Bollywood working as a collective unit towards the betterment of the industry in terms of box office sales by avoiding clashes.

Be it the makers of Pad Man shifting their release date for the solo release of Padmaavat or Parmanu‘s numerous change in release dates just to have a solo release at the silver screen. The scenario for the Tinsel Town is plain and simple as they work collectively towards greater box office numbers in 2018.

However, this may not be the case on August 15. Independence Day is one of the most sought-after release date for filmmakers to book for their films. Considering the fact that this Independence Day is an extended weekend, nobody would be willing to let go of this opportunity. But is a triangular clash worth the risk?

Well, all the three films releasing this Independence Day are of different genres, though the theme of Satyamev Jayate and Gold are same — patriotism. While Gold will narrate the story of India’s first Olympics gold after Independence, Satyamev Jayate is an out and out action film dedicated to the unsung heroes of the country. That puts YPD 3 out of the equation as the latest entry in the franchise is a comedy-drama film.

August 15 is the best slot for Gold and Satyamev Jayate, and no matter what these films won’t back out from their selected date. Though Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se will break the monotony, it will be safer for its makers to shift the release date for better box office numbers.

Satyamev Jayate also stars Manoj Bajpayee and will be directed by Milap Milan Zaveri.
